On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, Central Philippine University (CPU) and the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) formalized their partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony held in the Admin Conference Room at CPU. The event was attended by directors from the National Service Training Program (NSTP) and the Community Engagements and Service Learning Center, signifying the start of a collaborative effort to strengthen volunteerism across the nation.

This MOA marks the beginning of a significant collaboration aimed at leveraging the strengths of both institutions to enhance volunteer service initiatives. CPU, known for its academic excellence and robust community engagement programs, will join forces with PNVSCA, the government agency tasked with promoting and coordinating volunteer services throughout the Philippines.

The leaders of both organizations emphasized the critical need to bolster the spirit of volunteerism in the country, especially in light of current challenges such as national security issues, climate change, and other pressing social concerns. They highlighted that this partnership will pave the way for increased involvement of students and faculty members in volunteer work, targeting solutions for various social issues ranging from education and health to environmental sustainability and disaster response.

Moreover, this collaboration between Central Philippine University and PNVSCA underscores the importance of volunteerism as a catalyst for community and national development. It also serves as a beacon of hope and a model for other institutions, demonstrating how volunteer service can be harnessed to address and mitigate the challenges faced by society today.

This partnership not only highlights the shared commitment of CPU and PNVSCA to fostering a culture of volunteerism but also sets an example for how institutions can work together to create impactful change in their communities and beyond.
