On September 2, 2025, the Iloilo Provincial Board discussed the proposed establishment of the Center for Mangroves and Marine Biodiversity at Central Philippine University during its 10th Regular Session at the Provincial Capitol.

Last August 14, 2025 (Thursday), the selected members of the CPU Outreach Students Volunteers Society elected key officials for a newly established student organization. The CPU Outreach Students Volunteers Society is an organization intended to promote the spirit of volunteerism, leadership, and community service to the CPU students and the community.

Last July 31, 2025, the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center of the University conducted an orientation for outreach coordinators at various colleges, units, and departments of the University.

On July 15, 2025, Greenpeace Philippines, together with local volunteers in Iloilo, organized a public forum at LS Café, Iloilo City. The event, dubbed ‘The Climate Crisis and Role of Community Response: A Learning Session on Localized Climate Impacts,’ brought together members of civil society, local governments, environmental groups, and academic institutions, including the CPU Outreach Student Volunteers Society (CPU-OSVS) who committed to the initiative.

On July 8, 2025, the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center held a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the CPU Arukahik Tailoring Shop and Training Center, also known as the University Tailoring Shop and Training Center where the personnel are trained by former 4Ps beneficiaries from the Asosasyon ng Pantawid Pamilyang Mananahi (APPM).

On June 23, 2025, selected faculty members from the College of Engineering donated a corn sheller machine to selected corn farmers in Brgy. Badiangan, Ajuy. Iloilo. This machine is a thesis output by students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering from previous years. It is intended to separate the corn kernels from the cob.

On July 8 – 9, 2025, Central Philippine University (CPU), through its flagship outreach initiative – Project ETC (Education, Technology and Community) – successfully delivered and turned over one month’s worth of feeding supplies to its adopted schools in Iloilo Province.

The Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center (CESLC) of Central Philippine University (CPU), through its flagship initiative—the CPU Project ETC Outreach Program—successfully conducted a three-day orientation seminar from July 24 to 26, 2025. Founded by Dr. Anecita C. Seisa, an esteemed alumna of the CPU College of Nursing, the program aims to uplift public elementary schools by promoting education, technology integration, and community involvement.

PASSI CITY, June 7, 2025 – In the quiet corners of the world—where paved roads fade into dirt paths and signal bars vanish—children are growing up without the simple joy of a bedtime story or the luxury of a textbook. In response to this pressing need, the College of Pharmacy Student Council of Central Philippine University launched a literacy outreach program with one clear goal: to place books in the hands of children who need them most.

Last June 20, 2025, the Community Engagement and Service-Learning (CESL) Center conducted an orientation to the CPU-OSVS, where the CESL Director discussed the by-laws of the organization, which are composed of its name and purpose, membership, officers and duties, meetings, finances, and amendments.

Last June 16, 2025, selected faculty members from CPU-CAS departments of Life Sciences, Chemistry, Social Work, Languages, Mass Communication, and Humanities, joined by personnel from the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO) Iloilo, conducted ocular visits to areas of Leganes, Anilao, and Ajuy to establish the Center for Mangrove and Marine Biodiversity Conservation.

Project SIGLA: Suporta sa Isip, Gawa, at Lapis ng mga Anak, a community outreach initiative led by the Engineering Student Council – College of Engineering, was conducted on May 29–30, 2025, in the humble community of Bito-on, Jaro, Iloilo.

Last May 17, 2025, students from the College of Medical Laboratory Science (CMLS) of Central Philippine University stepped out of the classroom and into the community with a mission: to fight parasitism and promote hygiene and nutrition among children.

On May 31, 2025, CPU PASSC, in collaboration with ILIG Batiano, led a clean-up drive along the Batiano River in Brgy. Sto. Niño Sur, Villa Arevalo, Iloilo City. The activity focused on educating youth about the river’s current state and mobilizing them to take part in its rehabilitation.

In celebration of the International Day for Biodiversity on May 22, 2025, the Office of the College of Arts and Sciences Dean, the Province of Arts and Sciences Student Council, and the CPU Sustainable Campus Committee came together for a meaningful community outreach held at Katunggan Eco Park in Leganes, Iloilo.

Central Philippine University (CPU), in collaboration with the Iloilo City Government and the City Agriculturist Office, proudly held the 3rd Merkado Lokal @ Central on May 29–30, 2025, at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park. This year’s vibrant celebration carried the theme “Sustaining Tomorrow: Innovation and Ingenuity for Farmers and Fisherfolk” and welcomed more than 32 local exhibitors eager to showcase their farm produce, marine goods, and other proudly local products.
