On June 23, 2025, selected faculty members from the College of Engineering donated a corn sheller machine to selected corn farmers in Brgy. Badiangan, Ajuy. Iloilo. This machine is a thesis output by students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering from previous years. It is intended to separate the corn kernels from the cob.

PASSI CITY, June 7, 2025 – In the quiet corners of the world—where paved roads fade into dirt paths and signal bars vanish—children are growing up without the simple joy of a bedtime story or the luxury of a textbook. In response to this pressing need, the College of Pharmacy Student Council of Central Philippine University launched a literacy outreach program with one clear goal: to place books in the hands of children who need them most.

On February 12, 2024, with compassion flowing as freely as the blood donated, students, friends, and relatives came together for this year’s, ‘You’re My Type’ Give Love, Give Blood, held at Alumni Promenade Concert Park.

Last December 19, 2024 (Thursday), the Alberto Sorongon Memorial National High School and Iwa-Macatol Elementary School received table, cabinet, and cubicle donations from the University. The same activity happened this year to the public schools of Dingle, namely Nazuni Elementary School and Nazuni Summit National High School, where they also received school furniture.

The year 2024 officially launched the University’s first outreach week, where various activities were conducted from December 2 to 6 by different units, colleges, and organizations, with most recipients coming from the adopted communities of CPU. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to organize and participate in various extension works and community engagement activities for that week.

Last November 29, 2024, the Department of Languages, Mass Communication, and Humanities, through the CPU Communication Circle, in partnership with the Guidance Services Center, Alpha Phi Omega Zeta Omicron Chapter, and the CPU Psychological Society, held a half-day outreach program at Culasi National High School, Ajuy, Iloilo.

In partnership with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Iloilo, the Central Philippine University’s Junior Social Workers Association of the Philippines (JSWAP-CPU) recently concluded a meaningful book donation drive under the program titled “You Are Only One Book Away From a Good Mood.” This initiative, part of PSWDO’s Program for the Resilience of Iloilo in Mind and Emotion (PRIME), ran from October 2 to October 30, 2024.

Last September 16, 2024, Central Philippine University College of Medical Laboratory Science (CPU – CMLS) launched MedTech Week with a meaningful initiative: a Mobile Blood Donation Drive in partnership with the WVRBC and PRC Iloilo Chapter. Held at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park, the event was organized by the CMLS Provincial Student Council and two student organizations, the Medical Laboratory Science Internship Organization and the Medical Laboratory Science Society.

Central Philippine University (CPU) Psychological Society, along with partner organizations, held their project “Bulig sa Pumuluyo” last July 7, 2024. The said project aimed to deliver donations to Brgy. Ma. Christina residents in Jaro, Iloilo City who were affected by a recent fire incident.

On June 11, 2024, the CPU Review, Continuing Education, and Consultancy Center (RCECC) conducted an outreach program entitled Donation of Art and Play Materials held at Bito-on Elementary School, Jaro, Iloilo City.

On June 3, 2024 (Monday), Ms. Alyssa L. Zerrudo, a passionate arachnid enthusiast and collector, reached out to the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center (CESLC) to offer a remarkable donation of her rare scorpions and tarantulas’ collection to Central Philippine University (CPU).

On May 3, 2024, the Third Year Social Work Students of Central Philippine University, together with Prof. Sarex Dalida Dipol, Jr., Acting Director of Community Engagement and Service Learning Center (CESLC-CPU), Dr. Regina E. Samillano, Science Education Coordinator of the College of Education, and Dr. Lenny Rose P. Mucho, conducted an outreach activity in Sitio Nalo-uyan in Brgy. Sapao, Dumangas, Iloilo.

Last December 6, 2023 the College of Arts and Sciences of Central Philippine University established a mini-library in Iwa-Macatol Elementary School, located in Brgy. Macatol, Pototan, Iloilo. The activity was in response to the letter of School Principal Ms. Sheree B. Biarneza. According to her, the school has a poor academic performance, some students are non-readers due to lack of instructional materials.

Prof. Kerwin Luntao, DLMCH Outreach Coordinator, and Prof. Sarex Dipol, CPU Outreach Program and Service Learning OIC-Director, spearheaded a book donation drive and an instructional material literacy outreach program in Barangay Nazuni, Dingle, on November 24th. The aim was to promote literacy and provide educational resources to students at Nazuni Elementary School and Nazuni Summit Comprehensive National High School.

Toys are a beloved part of childhood for many children around the world. Unfortunately, not all children have access to toys, and this can have a significant impact on their development and well-being. Providing children with toys, school supplies, and educational materials can make a significant difference in their lives by giving them the tools they need to learn and grow.

On January 20, 2023 the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Tactical Operations Group 6, donated 12 Trash Bins for CPU, through the CPU Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center (CESL). The activity, which is a part of PAF community outreach and biodiversity advocacy program, was participated by CPU CESL Center, CPUAAI, CPU ROTC Unit and CPU Building and Grounds Personnel.

The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. – Western Visayas Regional Council (PLAI-WVRLC) received a donation of one box of children’s books from the CPU Kindergarten Library for their outreach program.
