Central Philippine University successfully concluded the Women and Development Program Year 2: Empowering Women Through Livelihood Rehabilitation and Holistic Development, a three-part seminar series designed to uplift and equip women with knowledge and practical skills for personal and community transformation, on March 29, 2025.

In 2015, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), specifically the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), and Central Philippine University organized the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), also known as Pantawid Pamilya. One of the government’s poverty reduction-related programs provides conditional cash transfers to poor households to foster their health, nutrition, and education.

Ajuy, Iloilo – March 11, 2025 – Teenage pregnancy and skipping classes remain two of the biggest challenges affecting students’ futures. Determined to make a difference, Central Philippine University (CPU) students from the CESci-3 class—comprising members from the College of Pharmacy and two students from the College of Arts and Sciences—stepped up to guide high schoolers toward healthier, smarter decisions.

Last March 15, 2025, selected women members of the Asosasyon ng Pantawid Pamilyang Mananahi (APPM) received alternative livelihood training from Dr. Myrna T. Luceño, a faculty member and outreach coordinator of the College of Hospitality Management. They were taught how to prepare and make nutritious vegetable dishes, puto cheese, and chili sauce.

On the 29th day of March 2025, the Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students of Central Philippine University (CPU) took part in a meaningful community engagement initiative at Brgy. Bito-on New Site Gym, with the theme “Connect, Care, Celebrate: Uniting our Communities, Nurturing Young Hearts, and Cherishing Milestones,” which fostered learning, fun, and service to the community, especially for the youth.

On March 21, 2025, the Central Philippine University College of Agriculture, Resources and Environmental Sciences (CARES) – Community Engagement Service Learning (CESL) Outreach Program has successfully hosted an Anti-Rabies Symposium in celebration of the Rabies Awareness Month with the theme “Rabies Free na Pusa’t Aso, Kaligtasan ng Pamilyang Pilipino” at Uswag San Isidro Elementary School Gymnasium in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro, Iloilo City.

On March 21, 2025, a transformative outreach event titled “Empowering Young Children Through Reading and Learning Essentials” occurred at Uswag Elementary School in San Isidro, Jaro, Iloilo City. This event was initiated by the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) students of Central Philippine University (CPU), aiming to promote literacy and provide essential learning tools for the young learners in the community.

Last March 22, 2025, the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center of the University was invited by the GT Mall Pavia to join the Earth Hour Activity. Aside from being a representative of the University at the event, Prof. Sarex Dalida Dipol, Jr. was also a resource person. He shared some of the University’s environmental rehabilitation and conservation initiatives.

On March 17, 2025, the Brigada Pagbasa Initiative trained extension officers, educators, and volunteers in various higher education institutions in the country. The participants learned the importance of volunteerism and how to conduct assessments to determine students’ reading and comprehension levels.

The Gender-Responsive Rug-Making Training and Seminar: A Livelihood Initiative for Community Development held in Barangay Culasi, Ajuy was the proponent of Prof. Cherrylyn M. Macairan, Acting Chairman and Outreach Coordinator of Department of Life Science. On March 17, 2025, the Electronics Engineering (ECE) Department of Central Philippine University (CPU) and its student organization, the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines – CPU Student Chapter (IECEP-CPU SC), successfully conducted an outreach program titled “Training-Workshop Outreach Program on Robotics, Precision & Smart Agriculture, and Visual Programming.”

BECED Gems, a newly recognized student organization of the Early Childhood Program of the College of Education, facilitated a two-phase parent education to identified participants of Uswag San Isidro Elementary School in Jaro, Iloilo City. The first phase was conducted on November 22, 2024.

On February 12, 2024, with compassion flowing as freely as the blood donated, students, friends, and relatives came together for this year’s, ‘You’re My Type’ Give Love, Give Blood, held at Alumni Promenade Concert Park.

The Young Entrepreneurs Society of Central Philippine University (YES-CPU), in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and accompanied by Mr. Sarex P.
